Service Contract Deceptive By Penn Warranty

I purchased a service contract from Penn Warranty @ a cost of about $1600. My transmission failed 4 months later and I called Penn Warranty. The truck was sent to a Ford dealer and Penn asked them to tear down the transmission to see why it failed. After finding the cause Penn authorized a used transmission replacement but did not want to pay for the cost of the tear down which was almost $400. They also refused to pay the cost of the transmission cooler or the taxes on the repair. Their excuse was the transmission cooler is an external part of the transmission which is not covered and the taxes are "related charges" which are also not covered. As for the tear down, they say the contract states that is the responsibility of the contract holder, even though it was requested by Penn. I believe this expense is to discourage contract holders from future claims, but it will not work on me. I'm not a person that uses insurance like this but after this experience I can assure you that if any little thing t happens to my vehicle, I will certainly file a claim against my contract with Penn. I will get all the money back that they took from me and more.

I bought a used truck in 1997 with a free Penn Warranty.

The engine seized up after the oil pan gasket leaked oil onto the highway, and I took the vehicle to the shop to fix.

Penn adjuster requested that the engine be tore down in order to diagnose the cause-little did I know that they made me pay for the tear down. The shop indicated that repair claims were denied for EVERY vehicle with a Penn warranty.

In my case, it took 2 weeks for the Penn adjuster to call me and deny the claim due to the fact that their company did not cover repairs due to fluid leaks. Fortunately, I had a back up vehicle during this time.

It cost $2,000 and 3 weeks of my time to get the truck back with a new engine.

Bottom Line: The Penn Warranty was more valuable as toilet paper than an attempt to reduce out-of-pocket expenses for used car owners.

YUP... Penn Warranty IS A Rip-Off Organization, with their confusing, deceptive statements, and their jackrabbit speed to DENY claims!

Anyone who buys a vehicle should NOT AGREE to the Penn Warranty.

Penn Warranty is a Member of Wilkes BArre, PA Better Business Bureau...... ! ! ! W H Y ? ? ? ?

Penn Warranty

My transmission is slipping to the point where the car does not move. I had it towed to a dealer where they contacted Penn Warranty which I have never used since I purchased it in 10/05 and they said they would need a dianostics done and would have to know what parts exactley need to be replaced. Penn Warranty does not pay for dianostics even though they request them. It was 9 hrs labor to tear this trans down. $850.00 out of my pocket then they would decide if they would cover the repair not the dianostics. This is the loop hole in the contract. Not everyone has $850.00 to shell out and then hope they will cover parts and labor. What a ripp off. When I called I talked to 3 people up to the supervisor which was really arrogant to me and said it was stated in my contract dianostics are not covered. I paid $700.00 for this warranty for nothing.
